About tournament

Sirius Open is the oldest international tennis tournament for people with disabilities in Croatia, with a tradition longer than ten years. In the ITF calendar, Zagreb has always stood out as a place known, not only for the top-quality wheelchair tennis but also for its rich accompanying program, great atmosphere and entertainment events.

In its thirteenth edition, which will be held from June 1st to June 4th 2023, the tournament will host more than 40 wheelchair tennis players from all around the world. Sirius Open is part of the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour and has the exceptional honour of representing Croatia as one of the 150 international tournaments held in more than 40 countries worldwide.

Sirius Open settled on the world map of wheelchair tennis tournaments back in 2010. Since then it has undergone several name changes as well as tournament grades, but thanks to an ambitious organizing team it positioned itself as a place where both domestic and foreign tennis players come back.

In addition to the desire for sports achievement for all players, the idea of the project is to promote wheelchair tennis to the Croatian public and to encourage people with disabilities to start playing sports, either recreational or competitive. With sincere hope that as ambassadors of Croatian wheelchair tennis we initiate changes, every year we create global friendship which gives us the motivation for further work.

Organization team

Sirius Open organization team consists of a handful of young sports enthusiasts. We gathered with a single goal, to change the world. Ok, we admit it – is a rather ambitious goal, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t try. We have the will and persistence, we absolutely love the job and we do it for pleasure. 🙂

We were gathered under the leading hand of Bojan Kovač, tournament director. Year after year the team has spread and now it consists of 13 people. And it’s pretty hard to have a group photo with all of us in one place. But, the tournament is a handful, a project that we organize all year long so we include numerous volunteers that help us during the tournament.
